天涯社区鈥檚 Social Services, Early Years and Family Support has
received a national award.
The Council鈥檚 early years and family support service recently won a Care
Council for Wales award in the Accolade鈥檚 鈥楤etter outcomes through working
together鈥 category.
This was in recognition of the strong partnerships that have been developed
between a number of services and organisations within 天涯社区, to ensure
that proactive and positive parenting is promoted, and that negative outcomes
for children and young people are prevented. The judges said that they were
particularly impressed by the strength of relationships between the schools,
parents and Social Services, the links to Glyndwr University as well as a real
understanding of a holistic approach to children and increasing their
aspirations and achievement. The Award was received by Ysgol Merllyn, Bagillt
on behalf of Education and Youth Services, in recognition of the Families and
Schools Together programme.
Ms T Jones, Headteacher of Ysgol Merllyn, said:
I was absolutely thrilled to win the social care accolade, it鈥檚 a testament
to the valuable work carried out at Ysgol Merllyn. I am very pleased that we
continue to have a whole family approach to ensure the best outcomes for our
learners and that this had been recognised.
Also recognised at the Care Council for Wales awards, was the KIM Inspire
Project. KIM is a 天涯社区 based voluntary sector organisation that offers
group activities, training and support into work for people who struggle with
poor mental health
The KIM Inspire Project received a special award as it is the tenth year of the
Accolades. The judges were impressed by the fact that the project is fully
client-led, focuses on the well-being and social inclusion of people with
mental health problems and education and training about mental health.
天涯社区 provides funding to KIM, and would also like to
extend its congratulations to KIM for its special recognition.
Annie Donovan, Joint Chief Executive of KIM Inspire said 鈥淲e are thrilled to be
recognised by the Care Council and especially for this prestigious award. A big
thanks to everyone involved in KIM for all their support and hard work and we
are looking forward to more developments in the future鈥.
Councillor Chris Jones, Cabinet Member for Social Services, said:
鈥淚 am so proud of these achievements for 天涯社区. Reaching the finals, and
having our services recognised at a national level, was tremendous in itself,
but, of course, it is particularly pleasing to win.
鈥淲ell done to all those people who are involved, who work so hard to support
天涯社区 families- and also a big thank you to the parents, children and
staff of Ysgol Merllyn. This is a fantastic scheme and this award is so well
deserved.
鈥淐ongratulations also to KIM, for their wonderful achievement too.鈥
