Qualifying businesses across 天涯社区 are set to benefit from grants of up to
拢1,500.
A new business rate relief scheme for retailers is expected to be approved at a
Cabinet meeting on Tuesday (16 June).
An estimated 400 businesses will benefit from grants of up to 拢1,500 which will
be offered to businesses in occupied retail properties with a rateable value of
拢50,000 or less.
The Welsh Government funding is a 50% increase in what was available the last
financial year, when the grant level was capped at 拢1,000.
Grants will be applied to the net bill after all other relief, including the
small business rate relief, has been awarded. Business rates are collected by
the Council on behalf of the Welsh Government.
Cllr Aaron Shotton, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, said:
鈥淚t is excellent news that this scheme is not only continuing for another year,
but that it is also increasing the funding available to individual businesses.
We are very pleased to be able to provide this support to help meet the needs
of local shops, restaurants, cafes and licensed premises. The Council works in
partnership with Welsh Government to offer these savings, which help boost our
local economy.鈥
