Gwaenysgor conservation area appraisal and management plan
  		Published: 12/06/2015
A management plan for the conservation area of Gwaenysgor is expected to be
approved by Cabinet on Tuesday (16 June).
Conservation areas are areas of special architectural or historic interest and
the local planning authority has a statutory duty to designate them, to
preserve their character or appearance.
Gwaenysgor is one of 32 conservation areas in 天涯社区. It is the first to
have a designated management plan, which has been drawn up with the help of the
local community, the Community Council and the local Member, but others are
expected to follow in due course.
The Plan will assist in formulating and assessing development proposals;
protecting important historic buildings and ensuring that the special character
of the village remains.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment,
said:
鈥淕waenysgor is a village to be proud of, with many special architectural and
historic qualities. Whilst change is inevitable, we need to manage that change
to ensure that the village retains its character. This management plan, if
approved by Cabinet, includes an extension to the village鈥檚 conservation area,
and guidelines for new building design and the landscape of the area.鈥
