  		Cabinet considers its annual progress

The Council鈥檚 achievements and progress in the last financial year will be 
discussed at Cabinet on Tuesday (16 June).
Cabinet members will receive an end of year update on the Council鈥檚 Improvement 
Plan, as well as the end of year report on the Council鈥檚 strategic 
partnerships, including the 天涯社区 Local Service Board.
Highlights achieved in the last financial year include:
- progressing the major housing and regeneration work taking place across the 
county, with the development of the Strategic Housing and Regeneration 
Programme, which will ultimately see the development of 500 new affordable 
homes in the next five years; 
- the approval of the County鈥檚 third Extra Care facility in Flint; 
- the Council becoming the first North Wales authority to receive White Ribbon 
accreditation for its work taken to tackle domestic abuse;
- the success of the one year Intermediate Care Fund to support new or 
additional Intermediate Care services;
- the expansion of the Flying Start provision within the County;
- over 拢6m allocated by Welsh Government to the Vibrant and Viable Places 
programme on Deeside, where work is underway to bring benefits to the areas of 
deprivation in Deeside as well as to the County as a whole;
- the creation of 1,130 new jobs in the county, including 1,012 within the 
Deeside Enterprise Zone;
- 99.6% of 16 year olds in the county in education, employment and training at 
the end of the year;
- in the last financial year, 1,622 天涯社区 residents received advice and 
support from the Welfare Rights Team. The successful interventions generated 
welfare benefit and tax credit payments totalling 拢3.1 million.
- a positive annual report from the Wales Audit Office, showing that the 
Council has made good overall progress in delivering its improvement 
priorities, with strong performance across a number of service areas. 
Councillor Aaron Shotton, Leader of the Council, said: 
鈥淭hrough our Improvement Plan, we prioritise areas and services that are 
important to our community. It is monitored throughout the year to assess 
whether we are going to hit our targets. Despite these unprecedented and 
challenging financial times, this Council continues to be a high performing 
organisation, and I am pleased that we have many achievements to be extremely 
proud of.鈥
Colin Everett, Chief Executive of the Council, said: 
These reports prove that 天涯社区 is a cost efficient Council which values 
its partnerships, and continues to improve year on year. The Council is 
performing strongly against our priorities, especially in education, the local 
economy and housing.鈥
