  		Communal heating charges
  		Published: 14/07/2017
At a meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday 18 July, members will be asked to
approve the proposed weekly heating charges in properties with communal heating
systems for the next 3 years.
Across 天涯社区, there are nine communal heating schemes. The Council
initially pays for the fuel, and then collects it from tenants in addition to
their weekly rent, with the aim of breaking even at the end of each financial
year. Heating charges for fuel consumption are based on the previous year鈥檚
usage.

The cost of gas has increased significantly in 2017/18, so there is a need to
increase the weekly heating charge in six of the nine communal heating schemes.

Usage in the three tower blocks in Flint has reduced following the energy
efficient measures carried out as part of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard
works.

天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Bernie
Attridge, said:

鈥淚鈥檓 delighted that our energy efficiency work at the Flint Towers means that
Castle Heights will see a reduction in heating charges for next year to 拢5.10
on average. The other two blocks will see no change in charges for next year.
Heating charge increases are being phased in incrementally in our other six
schemes, recognising the financial pressures households face.鈥

All changes will take effect from 1 September 2017.
