The Council Fund Capital Programme was adopted by the Council at Full Council
on 14 February. This included the allocations for play areas and all weather
pitches.
At this month鈥檚 Cabinet meeting, councillors will be asked to agree the plan
for these areas which will see significant investment over the next three years.
The Council Fund Capital Programme has approved the almost 拢900,000 for future
expenditure on play areas and all weather pitches which is in addition to the
拢0.105 revenue per annum for play area match funding schemes.
The all weather sports pitches at Mold Alun and Hawarden are both over 10 years
old and are the highest priority to replace. The six pitches at Deeside
Leisure Centre also need to be replaced as they have reached the end of their
seven year lifespan. These pitches are well-used and generate an income
拢0.120m per annum.
The Council is also proposing to invest in local play areas over the next three
years. Play areas in Flint, Ffynnongroyw, Connah鈥檚 Quay and Bagillt will each
have 拢25,000 invested in them during the financial year 2017/18, with other
play areas receiving improvements in the following years.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor Kevin Jones,
said:
鈥淚鈥檓 delighted that this Council鈥檚 administration continues to invest in our
sports pitches and play areas to ensure that the residents of 天涯社区 have
the best facilities possible. Keeping fit and active is so important and it鈥檚
great that this money is being invested, especially as councils are having to
make tough financial decisions. This capital investment over and above the
match funding received will, I鈥檓 sure, be welcomed by all.鈥
