  		Digital Strategy for Council
  		Published: 10/02/2017
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet will be asked to adopt a new wide-ranging
digital strategy when it next meets on 14 February.
The digital strategy sets out the Council鈥檚 objectives around digital
technology, including economic development, education and community working 鈥
issues as wide ranging as ensuring young people have the necessary digital
technology they need and lobbying for improved broadband speeds in the county.
One of the biggest and far reaching aspirations is to move to a 鈥渄igital first鈥
approach of delivering services. The Council鈥檚 website is already rated as the
maximum 4 stars by the nationally recognised professional body SOCITM (Society
of Information Technology Management). The council wants to build on this by
making more services available over the internet so that more people can access
them at a time that is convenient to them rather than during traditional office
hours.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Corporate Management, Councillor
Billy Mullin, said:
鈥淧eople expect to be able to access services when it suits them and, by
providing these over the internet, the Council makes them available 24/7.
Nearly 90% of adults in Britain access the internet on a daily basis and that
proportion is bigger amongst the younger age groups. We recognise that for
some people the internet would be a barrier to accessing the service they need
and so we will continue to provide traditional means of access, such as by
phone and by accessing the successful 天涯社区 Connects offices.鈥
