天涯社区 has welcomed 22 new apprentices.
The new recruits met the Chief Executive, Colin Everett, and the Leader of the
Council, Councillor Aaron Shotton, on an induction day at the Council鈥檚
Learning and Development Academy at Coleg Cambria, Northop.
This brings the total number of apprentices to 51 across the organisation
A number of apprentices are recruited each year to learn skills in areas
including business, accountancy, ICT, health and social care, environmental
health, highways, waste services and grounds maintenance. This year鈥檚 cohort
includes seven young people who will work out of the Alltami depot training as,
for example, workshop mechanics and street lighting engineers.
The apprentices usually attend college one day a week to gain industry
recognised qualifications while gaining valuable experience working for the
council and earning a salary.
The Council has also employed two graduates who will be able to continue their
Masters qualification while working in a profession.
Councillor Shotton said:
鈥淥ur award winning Apprentice scheme is an attractive alternative to full-time
college or university. The fact that this scheme is growing and developing
year on year demonstrates our continued commitment, as a Council, to creating
Apprentice opportunities for local people.鈥
Colin Everett, Chief Executive, said:
鈥淚鈥檓 delighted to welcome this year鈥檚 apprentices and wish them all the best as
they start their journey into employment. Many of our apprentices have gone on
to enjoy successful careers in their chosen trades and professions. The fact
that 96% of those on our scheme gain employment or places in higher education
at the end of their apprenticeship is testament to the programme and our
partnership with Coleg Cambria.鈥
