鈥淚 am delighted to be here today - these Awards help raise the profile of this
disease and show what organisations can do to make life easier for people with
dementia and their families. It continues the great work being done throughout
the county, for example the opening of memory cafes 鈥 we currently have 8 in
the county and will be opening more. In addition to this, we currently have 3
dementia friendly towns, as designated by the Alzheimer鈥檚 Society. I鈥檇 like to
thank Wates Living Space for sponsoring this event today and providing the
refreshments 鈥 the cupcakes are delicious!鈥
Flint town councillor and Chair of the Group, the Rev鈥檇 Brian Harvey, Rector of
Flint, who presented the awards, said:
鈥淭he Flint Dementia Friendly group has worked hard to raise awareness of
dementia with the help of the Alzheimer鈥檚 Society and is committed to working
with local businesses, schools and community groups so that the town can become
a dementia friendly community where people with dementia are understood,
respected, supported and confident that they can contribute to the life of the
town.
鈥淥ur group has been extremely well supported by the Planning and Development
