  		Corporate administration functions review

天涯社区 has been working hard to reduce bureaucracy and 
administrative support costs through a review of its corporate administrative 
functions which has so far realised savings of around 拢1m. 
The final phase of the review will see a newly created single team take 
responsibility for a range of administrative functions such as customer 
enquiries and requests for service, Reception, the maintenance of service based 
information databases, training organisation and support, translation services 
and general office support functions.
 
Leader of 天涯社区, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:
鈥淭he council has been working for some years to change its processes and 
structures in order to reduce bureaucracy and back office costs. This review is 
designed around the needs of the Council now and in the future, recognising 
that core support functions needed to be adapted and reshaped alongside the 
Council鈥檚 wider medium term financial strategy. 
This has been a thorough and fair process balancing the necessary savings and 
efficiencies in support services that needed to be introduced to help maintain 
essential frontline services to the public whilst protecting as many jobs as 
possible.
鈥淲e will be monitoring the impact of these changes over the next 12 months with 
a view to identifying further potential savings.鈥
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet will consider a report on the progress of 
the corporate administration review at a meeting on Tuesday, 21 June.
