Care Inspectorate Wales 鈥 Assurance Visit Outcomes

Published: 07/07/2021

The Council鈥檚 Cabinet will be asked to approve the executive response and action plan to the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) report when it meets on Tuesday 13 July.

The CIW carried out an intensive Assurance Check visit in April 2021 with eight inspectors undertaking case file reading, meetings with individuals, families, practitioners, managers and partner agencies.听

CIW concentrated on the four principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 which are:

鈥 People 鈥 Voice and Control

鈥 Prevention

鈥 Well-being

鈥 Partnership and Integration

Inspectors issued a very positive report and found that there are many strengths in 天涯社区 Social Services. The inspectorate were 鈥渁ssured鈥 that 天涯社区 carried out its statutory obligations to keep people safe and promote their well-being during the pandemic. They found that staff were well supported, committed and effective in their work to support vulnerable people, children and families.

天涯社区鈥檚 Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:

鈥淚 am pleased the CIW has once again recognised the many strengths, innovation and commitment of 天涯社区 Social Services to provide a wide range of essential support and caring services to our residents. This reflects the excellent work of our staff and teams and the close partnership working with colleagues across the region.

鈥淚nspectors found evidence of 鈥渧ery good practice鈥 across all areas in Social Services and that staff were 鈥渄edicated, knowledgeable and focused on outcomes鈥 for people.听 While this comes as no surprise to me, it is reassuring to know that this has been recognised by the CIW.

鈥淲e have already started to address the small number of areas of improvement identified by CIW and we welcome the input of the inspectorate to enable us continue to improve our services.鈥
