Healthy first for 天涯社区 nursery
Published: 09/06/2016
Rocking Horse Day Nursery in Broughton is the first nursery in 天涯社区 to
have successfully completed the Healthy and Sustainable Pre School Scheme.
This is a national scheme managed by Public Health Wales, coordinated in
天涯社区 as an extension to the Healthy Schools Scheme. Pre-school settings
actively work to promote and protect all aspects of health including physical
activity, nutrition and oral, emotional and social, safety, hygiene and the
wellbeing of their staff.
Working through 7 different themes the staff at Rocking Horse have been
demonstrating how they provide opportunities to be as healthy as they can but
also how they teach the children about what it takes to be healthy. They met
the criteria for all of the themes by providing evidence that they consider
health and wellbeing through all that they do including their policies,
leadership, ethos & environment and through their families and community.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor
Christine Jones, said:
鈥淢any health habits are established at a young age, making the early years鈥
environment an ideal time to influence a child鈥檚 health. Early years settings
have the potential to make a huge contribution to the health and wellbeing of
children in their care and the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme helps
them to do this. The staff and management have shown real commitment to the
scheme and being the first in the area to complete, it just shows their passion
for the children鈥檚 wellbeing.鈥
