  		Council refurbishes 500th property
  		Published: 03/05/2016
天涯社区 is celebrating along with their contractor, Keepmoat,
on the completion of the 500th property as part of a 拢103M regeneration scheme
which will improve the lives of thousands of council tenants across the county.
The works, which started in April 2015, will see around 3,000 council-owned
properties updated this year with new kitchens and bathrooms, electrical
rewires and heating upgrades as part of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard
(WHQS).
WHQS is a national standard of quality for homes set by the Welsh Government.
It means that all tenants in Wales should have the opportunity to live in good
quality homes which meet the requirements of that household.
天涯社区 is working hard to achieve this standard in all of
its properties before the deadline of 2020.
This is highlighted by the celebrating with the 500th resident to have her
bathroom and kitchen refurbished 鈥 Caerwys resident, Mrs Jones, who said:
鈥淚 am absolutely thrilled with the work that has been done 鈥 the workmen were
very polite and friendly and made sure that there was as little disruption as
possible. They worked efficiently so that the work was completed quickly.鈥
天涯社区 Cabinet Member for Housing, Helen Brown, said:
鈥淲e are working with some excellent contractors on our WHQS scheme and Keepmoat
has completed an outstanding job in delivering 500 properties in the Buckley
and Holywell districts during the financial year 2015-16. We will now be
moving onto properties in Deeside, Buckley and Mold as part of the next phase
of the scheduled programme. We look forward to continuing this work with them
over the coming months and years to help transform the lives of our residents.鈥
Frank Mondino, Area Director for Keepmoat in the North West, said:
鈥淭his is a fantastic milestone. The people of Caerwys have been incredibly
cooperative during the refurb process and we鈥檙e pleased residents like Mrs
Jones are now enjoying their improved homes. We鈥檙e proud to have played a
part in delivering the vision of 天涯社区 in transforming the
lives of a significant number of residents.鈥
