Queuing outside the door for the Jobs Fair!
  		Published: 21/04/2016
Hundreds of people attended a jobs, skills and training event to support
employment in 天涯社区 at Connah鈥檚 Quay Civic Hall.
Aimed at adults and young people seeking work, the interactive event gave them
the opportunity to meet with employers, education establishments and support
agencies.
There were over 300 job vacancies available, in a variety of sectors with
applicants taking advantage of the 鈥榦n the day鈥 support to fill in application
forms.
Employers included: Primark, McDonald鈥檚, Ralawise, Kingswood, 2 Sisters Food
Group as well as various recruitment agencies. Help was given to those who
attended with a number of interviews being arranged on the day.
The event was opened by Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic
Development, and was organised by Communities First 天涯社区, Jobcentre Plus
and Careers Wales. Communities First 天涯社区 also showcased their work
including the LIFT programme, developed to support the long term unemployed
back into work.
Along with applying for vacancies, jobseekers were able to meet with and put
questions to employers, learning providers and many other support
organisations.
Councillor Butler said: 鈥淭he event was a great success with nearly 550 people
through the doors. It gave a different take on the world of work and what jobs
and skills are needed especially in related areas. The venue was full to
capacity and, at times, people were queuing to get in which proves that this
annual event is growing year on year and proving a vital initiative to help
local people find jobs which fit their skill set or give them the opportunity
to find out about new careers and training. I spoke to a many visitors who were
thrilled with the advice available and really pleased with the event.鈥
