Library funding success
Published: 11/04/2016
天涯社区 Library Service is set to benefit from Welsh Government funding to
help develop and enhance services.
Holywell Library has been awarded 拢120,000 which will mean the Council鈥檚 plans
to move the library into the Leisure Centre to create a central hub offering a
range of services can now go ahead.
天涯社区s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, Councillor
Kevin Jones, said:
鈥淭his is really welcome news and means we can now move ahead to re-locate
Holywell Library into the Leisure Centre. This will make such a difference by
creating a modern hub in Holywell similar to the one we recently opened at
Deeside Leisure Centre. Co-location means that the centre will have longer
opening hours and customers can access a wider range of services in one
convenient place. This move will significantly strengthen the Council鈥檚 long
term ambitions with regard to leisure services and it also supports the
Council鈥檚 Community Asset Transfer programme.鈥
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Chris
Bithell, added:
鈥淚鈥檓 delighted that we have secured this funding. The new state-of-the-art hub
will be welcoming and we hope to encourage and attract new users, especially
young children with activity spaces, free Wi-Fi and learning spaces. People
will be able to sit and read or access the computers while waiting for family
members who are using other facilities at the centre.鈥
The work is due to start later this year with a planned opening date currently
of January 2017.
