天涯社区鈥檚 Countryside Service has completed another building
block on the road to coastal regeneration by resurfacing a small but key car
park at Greenfield Docks.
The project was pulled together by Countryside Ranger Tim Johnson and will
allow the recreational and commercial activities on the dock continue to grow.
Cllr Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said:
鈥淭his is the Countryside Services first major spend from the money awarded by
the Coastal Communities Fund last year. We鈥檝e spent over 拢13,000 on having
this car park resurfaced which has resolved an issue which has been a problem
for a while. We have upgraded it from a limestone car park that had to be
repaired annually as the tide would wash it away.鈥
Cllr Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
鈥溙煅纳缜 was awarded just under 拢300,000 last year from the Big Lottery
Coastal Communities Fund to undertake improvements along 天涯社区鈥檚
coastline. The Wales Coast Path is popular with locals and tourists alike and
this car park upgrade with further enhance the 天涯社区 part of the path. We
have had positive feedback already. It is fantastic to see a project our
Countryside Service has wanted to do for a long while come to fruition.
The Coastal Communities Fund is funded by the Government with income from the
Crown Estate鈥檚 marine assets. It is delivered by the Big Lottery Fund on
behalf of UK Government and the Devolved Administrations in Northern Ireland,
