Contractor announced for upgrade to Welsh medium primary school

A local contractor has been announced following 天涯社区鈥檚 successful bid in securing funding from the Welsh Government for Ysgol Glanrafon in Mold.
Local firm Wynne Construction, based at Bodelwyddan, has been chosen for the 拢2,857,000 Welsh Medium Capital grant project which comprises of the remodelling and extension to Ysgol Glanrafon to increase the capacity of the school.听 A further 拢1,070,000 of funding from the Childcare offer Capital Grant Programme will provide a new purpose built pre-school provision onsite
This announcement was celebrated recently at the school by members and officers of 天涯社区 along with representatives from Wynne Construction.
天涯社区鈥檚 Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Youth, Councillor Ian Roberts, said:
鈥淚nvestment in Ysgol Glanrafon will enable us to grow the number of places in the Welsh medium school estate and therefore directly contribute to the ambition to increase the number of fluent Welsh speakers in the area.鈥
Chris Wynne, managing director at Wynne Construction, said:
鈥淎s a North Wales firm, we are really pleased to have secured this contract to work with 天涯社区 once again.
鈥淭his project is another example of our work in the education sector in 天涯社区, including Ysgol Penyffordd, Deeside Sixth, Cambria Business School and Ysgol Maes Hyfryd/Ysgol Pen Coch.鈥
Education Minister Kirsty Williams said:
鈥淭his is an exciting development made possible through Welsh Government funding that demonstrates how we are investing in Welsh Language education to ensure we reach our goal of a million Welsh speakers by 2050.

鈥淧rojects such as this are absolutely crucial if we are to provide our pupils with the learning environments they deserve, while supporting them to achieve their aspirations.鈥
