Pop up Business School

Published: 04/02/2020

天涯社区 and Wrexham County Borough Council鈥檚 Business Development teams welcomed the Pop-up Business School to both counties in January.

The inspirational training course is to help people start small businesses and make money doing what they love.听 The Pop-up Business School鈥檚 approach is the polar opposite of traditional approaches to starting a business.

The content of the course included how to start a business for free, sales and the dark art of marketing, growing your business, creating a website for free, online payments, social media, how to find your customers, the legal bit and the 12 popup principles.

In the 21st Century, you don鈥檛 need a business plan to start a business and loans put off more people then they help.听 The pop-up business school has shown participants in 天涯社区 and Wrexham how to start without spending any money, make a great website for free and figure out how to get your first sale and beyond.

天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said:

鈥淭hese training courses have been a unique opportunity for local entrepreneurs.听 Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy and 天涯社区 Council supports and encourages this innovative approach to helping people to gain experience and skills which will help them start out in business.鈥

Samantha Harris, who attended the training course, said:

鈥淭his has been totally amazing! I attended both courses in Wrexham and 天涯社区 and it has been completely worth it. Week one in Wrexham I came with zero confidence totally alone looking to start in business with what I thought was the best route to business. By the end of the week, I had made great like-minded friends in other business owners, I was filled with confidence and armed with knowledge to go out in to the world.听 I decided to take the opportunity to attend the Mold course the following week really excited with the prospect of a future successful business. I had completely changed what my business idea was after the course, as being on the course really helped zone in on an idea that was clear and niche.鈥

Amy How, Head of HR and Events for The Pop up Business School, said:

鈥淭he past two weeks in Wrexham and Mold have been incredible. The drive and action taken by participants is amazing, they truly gave their all to our workshop, took action, added value and made sales! There is such a large network of people starting small businesses in North Wales and now they have the ability to connect with each other and take these networks forward and build great businesses.鈥
