Gappies visit County Hall
Published: 10/12/2019
The Chair of 天涯社区, Councillor Marion Bateman and her Consort, Councillor Haydn Bateman, welcomed the current 天涯社区 cohort of 鈥淲eMindTheGap鈥 (known coloquially as 鈥淕appies鈥) to County Hall recently.听
All Gappies are taking part in the twelve-month programme (established by Moneypenny founder, Rachel Clacher in 2014) which provides support and equal opportunities to young people in the area.
Councillor Bateman said:
鈥淚t was wonderful to welcome the young people to County Hall and give them an insight into what goes on here.听 They all seemed to thoroughly enjoy the visit to the Council Chamber.听 It really is great to see innovative projects like this proving to be such a success in our County.鈥
Rachel Clacher said:
鈥淲e are incredibly excited to have started another programme in 天涯社区 this year. As always, we couldn鈥檛 have done it without our employer-partners and funders which enable us to enrich the lives of ten young women in each location. It gives them life-changing opportunities to grow in self-confidence, broaden horizons and get paid work placements over the course of the next six months. It鈥檚 a unique project, not only because of its success rates but in its completely holistic approach and life-long support."
Since 2014, WeMindTheGap has grown beyond the borders of Wrexham to 天涯社区, Manchester and Liverpool. 听听For more information, visit @WeMindTheGapUK.
