天涯社区 Cabinet members will be asked to support the regional 鈥淣orth Wales Together鈥 Learning Disability Programme when they meet on 19 November.

The Welsh Government funded 鈥淣orth Wales Together; Seamless Services for people with Learning Disabilities鈥 programme, being developed with individuals with a learning disability and their families, involving the six North Wales authorities, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and the third sector and 听being led by 天涯社区.

The aim of the project is to ensure people with learning disabilities will have a better quality of life; living locally where they feel 鈥榮afe and well鈥, where they are valued and included in their communities and have access to effective personal support that promotes independence, choice and control.

天涯社区鈥檚 Chief Officer for Social Services, Neil Ayling, said:

鈥淭here has been real positive progress in this initial phase of the programme.听 There is innovative practice to be found in North Wales, and this can be shared and rolled out across the region. The project will ensure this happens over the next phase of the project until December,2020.鈥

Initial feedback shows that the听general profile and rights of people with learning disabilities needs to be raised within North Wales, and we need to improve specific areas such as real work opportunities for disabled people, and effective pooling of resources to improve service quality.听

Mr Ayling added:

鈥淲ork is continuing apace across the region and early indications show that there will be some really positive outcomes throughout North Wales as a result of this partnership approach.鈥
