Kier鈥檚 development of the Adult Day Centre in Queensferry听has not only provided 天涯社区 residents with a high quality Learning Disability day care and opportunity hub, but through their ethos of corporate social responsibility, Kier has also generated wider social value benefits for the local community, economy and environment.
A recent report submitted to 天涯社区 stated that over a 2 year period, constructing a 拢4.1 million project had enabled the creation of an additional 拢3.5 million of social impact, economic and environmental benefits.听 This includes 13 over 16 year olds benefitting from work experience, 6 new starter apprenticeships and 5 adult opportunities created, 600 pupils benefitting from schools and college visits and 25 training days held.听 In addition Kier Construction organised an event at Coleg Cambria to provide practical employment support for ex-forces personnel and attended the annual Careers Fair at Elfed High School to offer pupils an insight into a career in the construction industry.
Peter Commins of Kier Regional Building North West, said:
鈥淎t Kier, we commit to creating wider value for people and communities in everything we do. We work hard to have a positive social impact and are thrilled we have been able to leave a lasting legacy for the people of 天涯社区 during the delivery of the Adult Day Centre in Queensferry.鈥
These achievements of Kier are welcomed by 天涯社区 which is encouraging the contractors that it works to adopt a 鈥榮ocial value鈥 approach, in order to generate a positive impact on the County鈥檚 residents, communities and 天涯社区鈥檚 economy.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Corporate Management and Assets with responsibility for Social Value, Councillor Billy Mullin, said:

天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:
鈥淭his new facility reaffirms the Council鈥檚 commitment to quality services, investing money in critical services, despite the current financial difficulties being faced by all local authorities.听 I am proud that 天涯社区 continues to support our most vulnerable residents.鈥
