Extra care housing scheme gets seal of approval

Extra Care has become a popular model of specialist housing with care provision for older people in 天涯社区.听
A senior Councillor recently took the opportunity to visit the third such scheme in the county, five months after it opened its doors.
天涯社区 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, met staff and tenants at Llys Raddington, the new 拢10 million extra care housing scheme in Flint town centre.
Councillor Jones said:
鈥淚t is fantastic to see the transformation of Flint Town Centre and the new Llys Raddington scheme is huge part of that, and to see the positive impact the scheme is having on people from across 天涯社区.
鈥淚t is wonderful to be here meeting people and finding out how well they have settled in and are enjoying living here.听 These schemes are making a real difference to people鈥檚 lives, improving care provision for older people in the County.鈥�
Paul Seymour, Executive Director of Resident Services at Clwyd Alyn, said:
鈥淟lys Raddington is a great example of excellent partnership working with the local authority which is making a massive difference, not only to the lives of residents and their families, but also to the wider community in the town itself.鈥�
The scheme includes 73 one and two-bedroom self-contained apartments for people aged 60 or over, subject to eligibility criteria.听 The scheme also features a restaurant, communal areas and activity rooms as well as landscaped grounds, car parking and a mobility scooter store with 24 hour on-site care support for those who have an assessed need. There are additional assisted bathing rooms and there鈥檚 even a 鈥榮ky-lounge鈥�, a conservatory area on the roof.
Llys Raddington is a partnership development between 天涯社区, the Welsh Government and Clwyd Alyn. The housing elements of the scheme are managed by Clwyd Alyn, and individual domiciliary care support is provided by the Local Authority.
