Residential care services delivering safe, stable homes for vulnerable young people
Published: 26/03/2026
Children living in 天涯社区鈥檚 residential care homes are being supported to thrive in safe, nurturing environments, councillors have heard.
A report presented to Cabinet has set out how 天涯社区 Council-run homes are providing consistently high-quality care for some of the county鈥檚 most vulnerable young people.
The report highlighted a strong focus on delivering a trauma-enhanced, therapeutic model that places the best interests and outcomes of children and young people at the heart of practice.
Staff across the service were praised for their commitment to building trusting relationships with the children in their care, helping them to feel settled and supported.
Since 2022, the Council has opened five children鈥檚 residential homes to meet local need, reduce out-of-county placements, and deliver high-quality care.
The homes have all received positive inspection reports from Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), with ratings of 鈥榚xcellent鈥 and 鈥榞ood鈥 being achieved.
Craig Macleod, Chief Officer for Social Services, said: 鈥淓very child deserves to feel safe, supported and cared for, and that鈥檚 exactly what our residential teams work so hard to provide every day.
鈥淭he strength of this service, which has been built from the ground up in a short space of time, lies in the relationships our staff build with children and young people, creating stability and trust that helps them grow and move forward with confidence.鈥
天涯社区 is building on its positive work and developing more residential care homes for children and young people. Could this be a career for you? Find out more, visit the council鈥檚 website.
