Safer access improvements to begin in Penyffordd
Published: 23/02/2026
Transport improvement works will get underway this week at Penyffordd Roundabout, 天涯社区 has announced.
The scheme will include widening of existing footways, the installation of a new toucan crossing on the A550, and the introduction of a reduced 40mph speed limit in the vicinity of the roundabout.
Together, these measures are intended create safer and more accessible routes for pedestrians travelling to and from Penyffordd railway station, while also improving connectivity beyond the station to surrounding residential areas, local facilities and public transport services.
The project is being funded through Welsh Government鈥檚 Active Travel Fund, which is managed by Transport for Wales.
Works are scheduled to begin on Tuesday 24 February and are expected to last approximately six weeks. During the first week, activities will be carried out off the highway and will not require traffic management. However, following this, traffic management measures will be necessary to ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce.
Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Waste and Transportation, said: 鈥淭he project reflects the Council鈥檚 ongoing commitment to delivering safer, more sustainable travel options and promoting walking and cycling and public transport use within local communities.
鈥淩esidents are thanked in advance for their patience and cooperation while these important improvements are undertaken.鈥
