天涯社区 welcomes revised draft settlement following sustained lobbying

天涯社区 has welcomed Welsh Government鈥檚 updated draft local government settlement, following sustained calls from 天涯社区 for a fairer approach.
Welsh Government has confirmed that the updated draft budget includes 拢112.8m in additional funding for local government.
The revised settlement includes a new funding floor, ensuring no council receives less than a 4% increase, with an average uplift of 4.5%.
The package also includes extra investment in health and social care, and additional capital funding to be allocated by the next government after the Senedd election.聽
天涯社区 has long been a strong voice in urging Welsh Government to address the inequities in the funding formula. The Council has worked closely with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) and other local authorities in presenting a united front and making a strong, collective case for fairer funding.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Dave Hughes, said the revised figures show that 天涯社区鈥檚 persistence is helping to shape national policy.
He added: 鈥淲e welcome the updated draft settlement which represents a significant step forward for councils like 天涯社区 that have been underfunded for many years.
鈥淥ver recent months, I and my Cabinet colleagues have been clear with ministers about the need for a fairer approach that recognises the significant pressures we face in delivering vital services.

While it does not solve all of our challenges and we still face a funding shortfall, it is a move in the right direction. Our work does not stop here though, and we will continue to press for a funding system that provides fairness for 天涯社区.鈥�
The revised figures will be analysed as the Council continues to develop its budget for 2026/27.
