Minister visits local social enterprise with a difference

Economy Secretary Ken Skates recently visited Double Click Print and Design in Shotton.

Double Click is a social enterprise and mental health recovery work service which provides graphic design and print services while providing the opportunity for trainees to develop new skills in a nurturing environment.

The Cabinet Secretary was able to see the progress 天涯社区 is making in delivering innovative and effective social enterprises, including Double Click.听听 He also launched the 天涯社区 Social Enterprise Partnership and had the opportunity to meet partnership鈥檚 Steering Group.

天涯社区鈥檚 Leader, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:

鈥淚t is great to be able to show the Cabinet Secretary all the wonderful work that is taking place in 天涯社区 and to have the opportunity to explain the purpose of the partnership and describe the activities it has planned for the social enterprise sector in 天涯社区.听 Having the Cabinet Secretary officially launch the Partnership shows the significance Social Enterprises play in the economy of 天涯社区.鈥

天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:

鈥淭his visit was an opportunity to show the Cabinet Secretary our fledgling Microcare service and to discuss how the Social Care sector could be supported if it were treated as an economic sector able to attract sector specific funding.鈥

Economy Secretary, Ken Skates said:

鈥淚t was a pleasure to visit Double Click and see first-hand their excellent work to provide training and employment in a nurturing and supportive environment.

鈥淭his type of support is crucial in helping people who may feel excluded from the world of work to overcome their barriers to work and live more healthy and rewarding lives. Double Click鈥檚 work also reflects the goals of听both our Employability Plan听and Economic Action Plan in terms of equipping people with the skills they need and supporting their health and wellbeing in the work place.听听

鈥淭he visit also gave me a great opportunity to find out more about听天涯社区鈥檚 Social Enterprise Partnership and its plans to further drive local economic growth through collective working.听 I look forward to seeing the fruits of this partnership in the months and years ahead.鈥
