Social Value progress update

When it meets on 17 January, 天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet will receive an update on progress made in delivering the social value programme.听

The Council has a commitment to delivering greater social value through the work that it does; this means getting greater benefits to 天涯社区 communities as a result of its spending and services.听 The Council has already committed to an ongoing programme of social value work by making the position of the Social Value Development Officer permanent.

The report outlines the social value delivered for the financial year 2021-22 (拢3.229m) and the first six months of 2022-23 (拢3.156m).听听

The actual social value delivered has returned significant social, economic, environmental and cultural outcomes locally to 天涯社区. Some of the key highlights recorded for 2021-22 include:

  • Approximately 拢2.1m of local spend.
  • 101 apprenticeship training weeks completed.
  • 拢11,938 of in-kind community funding donated.
  • 364 staff volunteering hours donated to support local communities.
  • 24 local residents employed full time equivalent
  • 49 hours invested to support educational initiatives with local schools and colleges.
  • 39 weeks of work placements provided to residents.

Some of the key highlights recorded for April -September 2022 include:

  • Approximately 拢2.8m of local spend.
  • 200 apprenticeship training weeks completed.
  • 190 trainee training weeks completed.
  • 135 staff volunteering hours donated to support local communities.
  • 1,474 hours donated to support young people into employment.

天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Finance, Inclusion, Resilient Communities including Social Value and Procurement, Councillor Paul Johnson, said:
