  		Cracking down on dog fouling
  		Published: 02/03/2018
天涯社区 is stepping up its fight against dog fouling.

A Dog Control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) was introduced in October
last year to help keep the County clean. Dog fouling is consistently one of the
biggest issues raised by residents. Most dog owners are responsible residents,
but a minority spoil it for the rest. So, be aware that if you don鈥檛 pick up
after your dog, you could face a substantial fine.

As a responsible dog owner and to comply with the PSPO, you need to:
路 remove your dog鈥檚 waste from all public places in
天涯社区 and dispose of it properly;
路 carry the means to pick up dog mess (for example, bags)
at all times;
路 follow any direction from an authorised officer if asked
to put your dog on a lead;
路 remember that all dogs banned from all school grounds,
equipped children鈥檚 play areas, formal recreation areas and from within the
boundaries of marked sports pitches;
路 keep your dog on a lead at all times in Council
maintained cemeteries.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Streetscene, Councillor Carolyn
Thomas, said:

鈥淒og fouling has long been and continues to be an issue in all our
communities. In response to public concerns we are seeking to clampdown on
irresponsible dog owners through issuing fines to those who flaunt the new
rules as we aim to keep our public areas free from dog mess.鈥

Since October when the order was introduced, enforcement officers have spent
time raising awareness on their patrols, to ensure residents are fully aware
before any fines were issued. But now officers will look to enforce the order
on irresponsible dog owners who are liable to a Fixed Penalty Notice of 拢75 if
the rules are not upheld.
