天涯社区 and its partners are inviting you to a 鈥減op up鈥
exhibition which opened this week.
This week a new exciting addition to Flint High Street will tempt and interest
shoppers, locals and visitors alike. Based in the old Jones the Gardeners,
Flint Storyshop is hoping to tempt shoppers, locals and visitors to explore
Flint foreshores past, present and future.
天涯社区 Cabinet Member for Education and Youth, Councillor
Ian Roberts, is also a member of the group working on the foreshore
regeneration proposals and he is encouraging people to make the most of this
unique offer.
鈥淐ome and look at old photographs, new films, digital stories and artwork
shared by people of Flint. The space will be a chance for you to share your
memories, stories and thoughts on the foreshore and its future, including the
role of public art.鈥
The project is just one piece of work that is being overseen by a range of
local partners, 天涯社区, Flint Town Council and Cadw in the
regeneration initiative.
Lord Elis-Thomas, the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport added:

鈥淗eritage plays an ever important role in our cultural and economic ambitions,
with our unique monuments, landscape, culture and language central to our
offering to both locals and visitors alike.

鈥淭hrough this community focussed partnership we can help elevate Flint castle
to the world class, vibrant, mixed-use visitor destination it deserves to be,
and I鈥檓 delighted that Welsh Government continues to play its part in
delivering just that. Our initial investment in the staircase at the Castle has
already made a difference with plans for night-time illumination and other
exciting proposals only serving to strengthen the offering of what is a truly
majestic site and surrounding area.鈥
As part of the initiative, Councillor Vicky Perfect, Mayor of Flint, explained:
鈥淲e鈥檙e also continuing to explore how practical a new facility on the foreshore
will be. There鈥檚 a real passion and ambition to try and deliver high quality
maritime, sporting and social facilities, making it a national 鈥榤ust see鈥
destination.鈥
Detailed discussions are taking place between relevant partners, with the
intention to have concept designs in the spring.
