White Ribbon Day Reaching More Men than Ever Before
  		Published: 01/11/2017
On 25 November, more men than ever will focus their energies on practical
actions, local awareness raising and social media activity to end violence
against women and girls.
There will be hundreds of events taking place on 25 November throughout the UK,
where men are encouraged to have a photograph taken wearing the white ribbon,
pledging never to 鈥渃ommit, condone or stay silent about violence against
women鈥.
Locally, members and officers of 天涯社区 and partner
organisations will come together to demonstrate their support through a series
of awareness raising activities across 天涯社区.
On Thursday, 23 November at 11am, Coleg Cambria will be engaging with the
campaign at Deeside where white ribbons will be handed out to college staff and
students.
On Friday, 24 November at 11am North Wales Fire & Rescue will be showing their
support by hosting partner agencies at their Deeside depot and engaging with
members of the public. They will also be parked outside Connah鈥檚 Quay library
in their education bus to encourage members of the public to join the campaign.
OWL Cymru will once again, be engaging with members from the farming community
at Mold market.
Dee community radio has offered to promote the campaign and we are fortunate to
have the support of local rugby and football teams.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader of 天涯社区, and the
White Ribbon Campaign Ambassador for 天涯社区 said:
鈥淭his is a time for pledging support and reaching out to new communities and
individuals. The vast majority of men are completely opposed to violence
against women and as a society we have much to gain from gender equality and
healthier relationships. Campaigning to end violence against women is not and
never was solely a 鈥榳omen鈥檚 issue鈥. Just like any other aspect of gender
equality, men have to be part of the solution alongside women, creating a
culture where male violence, abuse and harassment against women is
unacceptable.鈥
