Published: 26/10/2017
Work has recently been completed on a new council housing development at St.
Mark鈥檚 Court, off St. Mark鈥檚 Avenue, Connah鈥檚 Quay and has been officially
opened by the Leader of 天涯社区, Cllr. Aaron Shotton
This development of five council houses is the latest scheme to be delivered
under the councils five-year Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme
(SHARP), which began in summer 2015 in conjunction with its strategic
development partner Wates Residential, one of the UK鈥檚 leading developers.
The work follows the successful completion of 12 properties at Custom House
Court in Connah鈥檚 Quay in December 2016, the first new council houses to be
built in Wales in over 20 years, as well as the social and affordable housing
scheme currently taking shape at The Walks in Flint.
Work on more new council properties is also underway at sites in Leeswood (Maes
y Mellion and Heol y Goron) and Mold (the former Ysgol Delyn).
Councillor Aaron Shotton, Leader of 天涯社区 said;
鈥淚 am delighted at the continuing success and achievements of the councils
ambitious housing programme in providing new high quality social and affordable
homes in rural and urban communities.
I would like to thank the Council鈥檚 strategic partner Wates Residential for
its excellent work and commitment in helping this council to deliver on its
long-held ambitions for the development of social and affordable homes across
the county.鈥
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader of 天涯社区 and
Cabinet Member for Housing said; said;
鈥淭here remains an urgent need for council housing for affordable rent. The
completion of these new council homes once again underlines this councils
commitment and determination to provide people with access to social housing of
the highest quality within their local communities.鈥
Joanne Jamieson, Managing Director of Wates Residential North, said:
鈥淭he landmark regeneration being undertaken across 天涯社区 by the County
Council and Wates Residential as part of the SHARP programme is transforming
天涯社区鈥檚 housing offer and helping to address the shortage of homes in the
county.
鈥淭he completion of St Mark鈥檚 Court at Connah鈥檚 Quay is immensely satisfying,
and the conversion of a former garage site perfectly illustrates how SHARP is
improving 天涯社区鈥檚 housing market for the better. We look forward to
continuing our partnership with the Council, building much-needed homes that
the people of 天涯社区 will be proud to live in.鈥
