Published: 22/09/2017
天涯社区 Communities First in partnership with Clwyd Alyn Housing Association
wants to give local people in Flint the opportunity to get into the catering
business.
Together they are offering a course where local residents will have the chance
to gain training, skills and experience in catering and domestic roles.
The two week course starts on Tuesday, 10 October at Jade Jones Pavilion in
Flint.
The first week will involve accredited training on a variety of subjects
including food hygiene, manual handling, health and safety and customer service.
Following this, there will be site visits to local catering establishments,
help with drafting up a CV and a confidence-building workshop.
天涯社区鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor
Derek Butler, said:
鈥淭his is a great opportunity for people in Flint to get experience and skills
which will help them find work in the catering business. It鈥檚 another great
example of partnership working between 天涯社区 and Clwyd
Alyn. Not only will the participants gain valuable qualifications, they will
also have the opportunity to take advantage of work tasters and work experience
opportunities on offer.鈥
Lisa Ramage Learning & Development Adviser for the Pennaf Housing Group, which
includes Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, said:
鈥淎s a major employer in the area we are delighted to support this excellent
training and employment initiative. As well as covering important skills
training, we are able to offer an insight to catering careers at Clwyd Alyn by
offering work taster days at our existing premises at the Old Court House Caf茅
and Heritage Hub in Flint and Llys Eleanor Extra Care housing scheme for older
people in Shotton.
鈥淭he programme not only helps those taking part to gain accredited training and
new skills, but also supports people on their journey back to work so they are
in a great position to apply for catering and domestic roles when they are
advertised, including our new Llys Raddington Extra Care Scheme which opens in
Flint next year.鈥
Communities First is a Welsh Government programme who is working to support,
upskill and offer experience to individuals helping improve their chances of
employment.
Clwyd Alyn Housing Association is a registered Social Landlord operating across
